Installing a new webasto air top 2000 stc gasoline kit fuel inlet from this new heater into my existing gas tank of my gasoline Ford transit.

How can I ensure that the additional fuel connection into my vehicles existing fuel tank will not cause the "check engine" light to illuminate because of factory the evaporative emissions system uses a purge valve integrated into the factory fuel system that may cause the differential pressure in the fuel tank to change ? In short, if I tap into my existing fuel tank to supply the heater, will it cause a problem with the factory emissions system and therefore set a check engine light ?

The Ford Transit has a dedicated fuel port for Webasto or Eberspacher diesel or petrol (gasoline) heaters, this is introduced by the manufacturer for the addition of independent or supplementary heating.

Webasto and Eberspacher Espar heating systems are approved for installation and providing it has been installed correctly, the heater unit should not cause any 'check-engine' lights.

On older Ford Transit models the auxiliary fuel port can be located on the sender unit. On current Ford Transit models there is a dedicated fuel take-off on the tank, separate from the sender unit.

See 'figure 1' and 'figure 2' on the attached installation documentation.
